The course provides a thorough introduction to quantitative research methods in education. Quantitative Methods in Education engage in the science and practice of educational measurement and evaluation primarily through the application of statistical methods informed by the study of teaching and learning statistics. In this course, the learner will study quantitative research methods in education, evaluation, and statistics to address practical problems of education. The course equips the learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare for an educational research project using quantitative research methods. To meet the current demand for training on quantitative methods in educational research, this course has been designed to help academics, researchers, students (both undergraduate and graduate), and professionals coming from different backgrounds to learn about basic quantitative methods and learn to analyze data from research using SPSS software, interpret the result and apply the knowledge in their respective fields
The course aims to develop participants’ general research methodological competence and critical thinking to a level commensurate with what is required by a researcher within the field of education. After successful completion of the course, the student should be able to achieve the following learning outcomes.
