The Master of Science in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support is a 15 months dual semester programme in a modular system.
Classes are held on weekdays only. The schedule may vary by semester—some weeks have two days of classes, while others may have three, depending on course requirements. The programme follows a blended learning format, combining both online sessions and essential in-person classes.
● Applicants must have a total of 15 years of schooling with at least a Bachelor degree in any discipline.
● Applicants must obtain at least 2nd class/division or CGPA 2.50 at all stages of schooling.
● Applicants with GED (General Educational Development) are not eligible to enroll.
All eligible applicants, except the BRACU graduates having a CGPA of 3.0 or above, are required to sit for the written admission test.
The Admission Test will have two parts:
1. 1-hour written test
2. Interview (Those who qualify for the written test will be called for an interview for final selection.)
● The interview is mandatory for all applicants.
The programme follows a learner-centered, participatory, and “learning by doing” approach. Teaching methods include guided studies, group discussions, presentations, case studies, field activities, simulations, and reflective exercises, supported by interactive dialogue and practical engagement.
All classes, assessments, and course materials are delivered in English.
The programme follows the BRAC University policy and consists of 40 credits.
Each course will have its own set of assignment requirements, deadlines, and submission guidelines, which faculty members will share at the beginning of the course. All assignments must be submitted through the Learning Management System (LMS) within the specified deadlines.

Eligible students may apply for BRAC University’s need-based financial support or tuition waivers, depending on availability.
At this time, we are unable to accommodate international students, as the programme requires regular in-person classes and field visits that must be attended onsite.
According to BRAC University policy, students are not permitted to pursue two master’s programmes at the same time. Once one master’s programme is completed, enrollment in a second programme is allowed.
No, completing this master’s alone will not qualify you to work as a psychologist/psychiatrist in Bangladesh, as per current ethical and professional guidelines. However, you may work as a psychosocial support provider under the supervision of a psychologist/psychiatrist.
Graduates of the Master of Science in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support can build careers in mental health programs, education, corporate wellbeing, community services, humanitarian response, and research or advocacy. It depends on the policies of the receiving institution or university. If a student from this master’s program applies for a credit transfer, it may be possible only if the receiving institution reviews and accepts the credits. Eligibility and approval vary based on institutional requirements, academic equivalencies, and individual circumstances.
