This course will introduce the participants to key theories and basic concepts of play, for example: Benefits of play in nurturing children’s spontaneity and how play can help promote socio-emotional development of children and adults…good understanding of social-emotional learning, empathy and the importance of positive relationships between children and adults. The course will aid participants in developing a good understanding of social-emotional learning, empathy and importance of positive relationships between children and adults to set the stage for children’s future learning and emotional stability. In addition, the course will offer ideas on how to develop a positive environment for children where they can feel safe to be creative and innovative. The discussions will require thinking through how socio-emotional development can help children overcome difficult situations and how different play activities can lead to desired outcomes. The participants will be engaged in various activities and learning experiences to understand the present practices in local, national and global contexts. This course is designed to provide participants with quality experience, and the opportunity to reflect critically on their own beliefs.
