Celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 at BRAC IED

Shaping a New Bangladesh through Gender Equality

On March 8, 2026, BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BRAC IED) hosted an International Women’s Day event under the theme “Give To Gain” as part of the Learning Series. Through shared experiences and thoughtful reflection, participants explored how gender norms shape the lives of women and men, influencing opportunities, behaviors, and interactions within families, schools, and communities.

Empowering Voices through Empathy and Shared Responsibility

Participants reflected on gender equality and societal expectations through their own questions and experiences. Some asked whether International Women’s Day is still necessary, sharing that while equality should be practiced daily, having a dedicated day helps everyone pause and recognize ongoing challenges. Others discussed how women often adjust their lives to fit societal norms and wondered how men could take more responsibility at home and in communities. Many questioned how women can support each other better and how families can teach children about equality from a young age.

Audience members also raised concerns about gender-based violence, highlighting the need for empathy, safe spaces, and shared action. Overall, the discussion centered on what everyone-men and women-can do in their daily lives to challenge norms, share responsibilities, and build a more equal society.

Give to Gain: Moving Forward Together

The session concluded with inspiring words: “নারী-পুরুষ ভেদাভেদ, আজই করি শেষ, সমতার আলোয় গড়ি নতুন বাংলাদেশ।” International Women’s Day reminds us that equality grows through everyday actions. By giving respect, empathy, and opportunities, we gain stronger communities and a brighter future for all.
