The session on “Play and mental well-being of young children” was jointly organized by the Bangladesh ECD Network (BEN) and BRAC IED on the 19th of March 2023. The purpose of the session was to discuss the importance of play in promoting the mental well-being of young children. The panel of discussants included:
Dr. Ahmed, Associate Professor in the Child Adolescent & Family Psychiatry Department at the National Institute of Mental Health provided insights into the connection between play and mental health.
Ms. Sadia Sultana, Senior Psychologist at BRAC IED shared her perspectives on the role of play in enhancing the mental wellbeing of young children.
Ms. Manjusree Mitr, Team Leader for Education at Netz Bangladesh offered insights into the educational aspects of play and its impact on the overall development of young children.
The session was moderated by Ms. Mahmuda Akhter, the Vice-Chair of the Bangladesh ECD Network (BEN). As the moderator, Ms. Akhter facilitated the discussion and ensured that all panellists had an opportunity to share their views and engage with the audience.

On the other hand, the session on “Parents’ and caregivers’ engagement in Early Childhood Development” took place on the 21st of March 2023. This session aimed to explore the significance of parental and caregiver involvement in early childhood development. The discussants for this session were:
Ms. Zannatun Nahar, Manager for ECCD (Early Childhood Care and Development) at Save the Children shared insight from her expertise in ECCD and provided valuable insights into the role of parents and caregivers in supporting the holistic development of young children.
Ms. Ahlam Ahsan, CEO of Phulki, shared her experiences and perspectives on engaging parents and caregivers in promoting positive outcomes for young children.
Ms. Kuri Chisim, Senior Program Specialist at BRAC IED shared her expertise in program development and implementation in the field of early childhood development and contributed to the discussions on engaging parents and caregivers effectively.
The session was moderated by Dr. Md. Golam Mostafa, a member of the Executive Board of the Bangladesh ECD Network (BEN). Dr. Mostafa ensured a productive conversation among the discussants and facilitated audience participation.
